Quit India movement to expel empire with 'Do or Die' slogan in drive. Yet, it did not resulted in expulsion immediately because of:
(a) British tactics of talks of self rule involved sustain effort.
(b) Inability in reaching consensus by congress & Muslim league on matters of government
(c) failure of -- CR Plan, Wavell formula etc.
Though Quit India Movement showed British that it was no more possible to rule India but forced expulsion was also because of --
(a) delight decolonialism in post war world.
(b) pressure from other countries for independent India.
(c) British inability to administer vast colony - Post war.
It was rather an amalgamation of factors which resulted in British expulsion << suddenly that partition was not planned well resulted in millions death & displacement.
