Intended consequences: (1) They wanted to create a strata of guianas who are Indians in blood and British in choices (2) They wanted to create a system called DOWNWARD FILTRATION theory (3) Education not for all, just for a cadre to advance their interest (4) Create a clerical class of Indians — not enough to think on their own but enough to carry British providential mission. Unintended consequences: (1) It exposed Indians to new ideas — Western ideas of freedom, liberty, nationalism, humanism (2) Reformed Indian society — Raja Ram Mohan Roy's influence on western education led to challenge the society's morality (3) It also led to creation of western education — upper-middle class which later became a reservoir of leadership.
