Open scan (p.9)

Main Body

Recently, a GLOF was happened at Nepal, in June '25 affecting lives of many.

Factors for rising GLOF -

▷ Global warming - leads to increased water content in GLOF, increasing pressure.

▷ Reduced Albedo by black carbon fastens the melting of glaciers. (IPCC III assessment report).

▷ Infrastructure development (of large basis)

▷ Earthquakes - seismic issues rupture the equilibrium.

▷ Shifting seasons enhances the glacial melting.

▷ Increased water pressure

▷ Constant drilling in the crust for foundation of bridges, towers etc.

▷ Evastion enhances pressure over the glacial capacity to hold water.

▷ Shortening of winter season, reduces the freezing of water.

▷ Solar minima cycle.

Additional factors (final reiteration):

Thermal melting
Human settlements due to rising population pressure and infrastructure creation
Defence infrastructure built by China (Xiaxeng villages)
Laying of oil pipelines (eg Siachan base lamp) & affects the fragility of system
Constant drilling in the crust for foundation of bridges, towers etc
Evasion enhances pressure over the glacial capacity to hold water
Shortening of winter season, reduces the freezing of water
Solar minima cycle
