Context/continuation on women and societal challenges

Negative perception: Women living alone or in relationship suffer from social prejudice. Rise of single mother families in cities due to divorces, etc., creating dual burden on women. Still prevalence of patriarchal norms with limited women MPs (13.8%) and STEM professionals. Key measures include: Recognise, Reward, Reduce care work through infrastructured hostels and creches; Protection through police reforms and judicial reform; Sensitization to end discrimination through Beti Bacho Beti Padhao scheme. Due to migration, other women unable to exercise their agency; reforms still required to promote woman-led development and equip them with security.
