What are rare earth elements (REEs) and what are their applications in modern technology?

(RCE) Rare earth elements are a group of 17 shiny-white metals such as Yttrium and Cenadium.

Rare is a misnomer - they are abundant, but difficult to mine.

REES Applications:

i) They are vitamins of the technology industry - used for doping after metals

ii) Application - Hardening of metals - Improved conductivity

iii) Uses - Electric vehicles, batteries, glass manufacturing, fabrication of integrated circuits, silicon laser color panels etc
