Open scan (p.38)

Introduction

White hydrogen or natural hydrogen is found in earth's crust naturally & can act as a sustainable fuel source for growing energy demand.

23 words

Main Body

Potential of White Hydrogen: (A) Supplement the transition to greener homes (by good & Soolw non fossil fuel from question); (B) Near zero or negative Carbon Footprint; (C) Potential to reduce India's dependence on imported fossil fuels; (D) Creation of a new industry & additional jobs in auxiliary industries (& share of imported fuel); (E) Doesn't require electrolysers for generation thus less dependent on global supply chains.

(F) Cheaper than conventional form of hydrogen fuel; (G) Need to promotion of hydrogen fuel cell engines; (H) Decarbonising the railway sector (by Ict factory Chennai creating hydrogen powered rolling stock).

Why still untapped: (1) No concrete policy to promote white hydrogen sector; (2) Limited interest in exploration due to long period of capital intensive; (3) Extraction of purification infrastructure is still limited; (4) Challenges of storage & transport; (5) Shortage of skilled professionals in the sector.

International Collaboration with Global leaders.

As it require low temperature & high pressure; (F) Shortage of skilled professionals in the sector.

International Collaboration with Global leaders.

Way Forward: - A white hydrogen policy to promote private sector through visibility get funding & PPP; - Develop local supply chains for exploitation & purification; - Use satellites, GIS, etc for exploration
