[Question relating to Battle of Plassey/Buxar and British consolidation in India]

The Battle of Plassey fought in 1757 between Britishers and Siraj ud Daulah. It resulted in British victory. And Britishers got the diwani of the Bengal Area. The British established the puppet government of Mir Jafar and established the dual government system. But the Real consolidation started was in the Battle of Buxar. The Britishers defeated the combined armies of Shah Alam, Mir Jafin and Shuja ud Daula.

The Britishers gained significant resources after this. It was the first time that such a small but disciplined army had defeated a larger army. The Ruler of Delhi was also defeated which had a great psychological effect. The Britishers were able to sign treaties with Shah Alam for diwani of Bengal. Thus, from a trading company they became regional rulers. Shah Alam, Shuja ud Daula was also humiliated and had to cede parts of his territories. Although, both the wars were important, but the Battle of

Buxar led to establishment of the company as a valid regional power (by a farman by Shah Alam - titular head of India). Thus, the Britishers now had the authority to rule India. The Battle of Buxar also led to increased morale of the Britishers and it proved to be the jumpstart for future expeditions.
