Dr. B.R. Ambedkar had described caste as a 'notion of mind', a 'barbed wire' that divided people. Thus it is very difficult to annihilate untouchability.

Although untouchability is banned in public by Constitution Article 14 and Civil Right Act, a person may adopt a Lower caste person in office, but he will not allow a Lower caste to sit and have dinners at the same table or at his house, or give his daughter in marriage to him.
Caste due to globalization and economic interdependence - Adur formwise used constitutional safeguards, untouchability has gone from public eye but it is practised in private spheres.
We need to focus on Awareness generation through IEC and focus on constructive social dialogue and social integration. Identify politics by also led to usurper of caste in public domain.
Conclusion
Thus we need to adept caste as a social identity to be formed by birth should not restrict caste naming and untouchability.
