Lack of alternatives - North India had cattle, opportunity for green revolution. In Western India - Maharaswada and Sawashtra region deficient in water. Historical Reasons - Sandar Vallabh Bhai passed laid the foundation of milk cooperatives in Western India, especially in Gujarat.

Leadership - Progenor V. Kusian dynamic leadership and hardwork in the western region in establishing of AMUL. Cooperative culture - was more strong in western India. Availability of mergerindustrialised post cities in western India - weedy made merger. Proactive policy of government - like tax benefits and member land funding for establishing guyen. In AMUL guyon land by gov. Other factors like labour, raw material etc. were also favorable.
