Consolidation of Bengal started in Battle of Plassey (1757) with seige of power from Bengal ruler Sirajud Daulah to Shuja ud Daulah, setting of pseudo ruler to control power (ex) Mir Jafar & Mir Qasim, and gained access to vast resources of Bengal which helped in consolidation across other regions (ex) In carnatic wars, presence in Bengal gave British an edge. This led to start of dual governance that was concocted later by clive and gaining economic authorization (ex) Dastakes issue. Culmination in Battle of Buxar achieved credibility by defeating mughal ruler Shah Alam II, end of threats of other Europeans/colonists diffused (ex) French wiped off by Treaty of Paris, Dutch removed by Battle of Bedara (1759), and Treaty of Allahabad legitimized British elimination over Bengal.

Both these battles were have played a major role in starting of British colonial rule that added to the plight of India & Indians in subsequent years.
