Introduction

Caste System is a system which decides a person's rights, privileges, duties, based on his/her birth.

16 words

Main Body

Dichotomy in Public & Private life exists where: Public sphere shows non-discrimination and people support caste equality, with rules and laws prohibiting caste discrimination. Private life however shows: Inter-caste marriage still not preferred, separate rooms and dishes for maids still exist, and cognitive biases used by politicians for vote banks undermining the caste system's eradication.

Caste acts as a barrier to caste annihilation because: (1) Mindset still remains caste oriented despite public proclamations of equality. (2) It proliferates in areas like rural regions where public scrutiny is not much, allowing private discrimination to persist. (3) Cognitive biases used by politicians for vote banks perpetuate churches and caste system consciousness.
