An X-ray beam can be deflected by:
General KnowledgePhysics
- AAn electric field
- BA magnetic field
- CAn electric as well as a magnetic field
- DNeither an electric field nor a magnetic field
Explanation
X-rays are electromagnetic waves, consisting of chargeless photons. Electric and magnetic fields deflect only charged particles, through the electric force and the Lorentz force respectively. Since X-ray photons carry no charge, an X-ray beam passes through both fields undeflected. Hence it is deflected by neither an electric nor a magnetic field.
