Explanation

The ploughed field at Kalibangan in Rajasthan — showing a distinctive grid pattern of criss-cross furrows, suggesting two crops grown together — belongs to the Early Harappan phase (c. 2800 BCE). It is the earliest evidence of ploughed agriculture in the subcontinent.
