Social Mobilisation and Institution Development (SM&ID) — the formation and nurturing of self-help groups and their federations — is one of the major components of the Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana–National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM), the government's flagship programme for rural poverty alleviation. It is not a component of the National Urban Digital Mission, AMRUT or the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan. DAY-NRLM aims to cover about ten crore rural households through the self-help-group network.
