Explanation
The Tashkent Agreement (10 January 1966), mediated by Soviet Premier Alexei Kosygin, was signed between India's Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri and Pakistan's President Ayub Khan to end the 1965 Indo-Pak war. Both sides agreed to withdraw to pre-war positions and restore diplomatic and economic relations. Shastri died in Tashkent on the night of the signing. It had nothing to do with the Soviet Union as a party or with the creation of Bangladesh (1971).
