Explanation

The Salal Hydroelectric Power Project is built on the Chenab river in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir. The Sutlej hosts projects like Bhakra-Nangal, the Beas hosts Pong, and the Ravi hosts Ranjit Sagar — not Salal. It is a run-of-the-river project with an installed capacity of 690 MW.
