A body floats in a liquid if the buoyant force is:
General KnowledgePhysics
- Aequal to its weight.
- Bless than its weight.
- Cgreater than its weight.
- Dzero.
Explanation
By Archimedes' principle, a body floats when the buoyant force (the weight of the displaced liquid) equals the weight of the body. If the buoyant force is smaller than the weight the body sinks, and if it is larger the body rises until equilibrium is reached. Hence floating requires the buoyant force to be equal to the weight of the object.
