The Suresh Tendulkar Committee (2009) recommended moving poverty estimation from the Uniform Reference Period (URP, 30-day recall for all items) to the Mixed Reference Period (MRP: 365-day recall for low-frequency items like clothing and durables, 30-day for the rest), computing poverty on Monthly Per Capita Consumption Expenditure under MRP. The Lakdawala, Dandekar and Alagh committees used earlier URP-based methodologies.
