General KnowledgeHistory of India
- AThose who were immersed in devotion to Vishnu 170
- BThose who were devotees of Buddha
- CLeaders who were devotees of Shiva
- DLeaders who were devotees of Basveshwara
Explanation
The Nayanars (Nayanmars) were the 63 Tamil Shaivite bhakti saints devoted to Shiva, whose hymns form the Tirumurai. The Alvars were their Vaishnavite counterparts devoted to Vishnu; neither were Buddhists nor followers of Basaveshwara (the 12th-century Lingayat reformer). Hence leaders who were devotees of Shiva.
