In this section, each item consists of six sentences of a passage. The first and sixth sentences are given as S1 and S6. The middle four sentences have been jumbled up and labelled as P, Q, R and S. Find the proper sequence of the four sentences.
S1: One day her mother, having made some cakes, said to her "Go, my dear, and see how your grandmother is doing, for I hear she has been very ill. Take her a cake, and this little pot of butter."
S6: "Does she live far off?" said the wolf.
P: He asked her where she was going.
Q: The poor child, who did not know that it was dangerous to stay and talk to a wolf, said to him, "I am going to see my grandmother and carry her a cake and a little pot of butter from my mother."
R: As she was going through the wood, she met with a wolf, who had a very great mind to eat her up, but he dared not, because of some woodcutters working nearby in the forest.
S: She set out immediately to go to her grandmother, who lived in another village.
The correct sequence should be
- APRQS
- BSRPQ
- CPRSQ
- DRPQS
Explanation
S1 sends the girl to her grandmother; (S) she sets out immediately; (R) she meets the wolf in the wood; (P) he asks where she is going; (Q) she innocently tells him about the cake and butter — prompting S6's "Does she live far off?" Any other order would put the wolf’s question before the girl’s answer. The sequence S-R-P-Q is option (B).
