Explanation

The Eight Degree Channel runs along the 8-degree north latitude line between the Lakshadweep Islands (Minicoy) of India and the Maldives. The Nine Degree Channel separates other Lakshadweep islands, while the Ten Degree Channel separates the Andaman and Nicobar groups. The Palk Strait, not the Eight Degree Channel, separates India from Sri Lanka. Hence the channel separates Lakshadweep from Maldives.
