Explanation
The 52nd Jnanpith Award — the award for the year 2016, announced in December 2016 — was conferred on the Bengali poet Shankha Ghosh. Raghuveer Chaudhari received the 51st Jnanpith (for 2015), Pratibha Ray the 47th (for 2011), and Rehman Rahi the 32nd (for 2004). The 2016 Jnanpith laureate is therefore Shankha Ghosh.
