Pir Panjal Range in the Himalayas is a part of:
General KnowledgeGeography
- AShiwalik
- BTrans Himalaya
- CCentral Himalaya
- DLesser Himalaya
Explanation
The Pir Panjal range lies south of the Greater Himalaya and north of the Shiwalik foothills, placing it in the Lesser Himalaya, also called the Middle Himalaya. It carries the Banihal and Pir Panjal passes and separates the Kashmir valley from the plains. It is not part of the Shiwalik (the outermost foothills), nor of the Trans-Himalaya (the ranges north of the Greater Himalaya such as Ladakh and Zanskar). Hence it belongs to the Lesser Himalaya, option (D).
