Stalactites and stalagmites are features of:
General KnowledgeGeography
- Aglacial topography
- Bvolcanic topography
- Ckarst topography
- Dfluvial topography
Explanation
Stalactites (hanging from cave roofs) and stalagmites (rising from cave floors) form in limestone caves when slightly acidic groundwater dissolves calcium carbonate and redeposits it as dripstone. Such solution landforms are the hallmark of karst topography, named after the Karst region. They are not products of glacial, volcanic or fluvial processes, which produce moraines, lava landforms and alluvial features respectively. The correct association is karst topography, option (C).
