Biogas is considered to be an excellent fuel which burns without smoke. The main constituent of biogas is:
general-sciencechemistry
- Amethane
- Bhydrogen
- Ccarbon dioxide
- Dhydrogen sulphide
Explanation
Biogas produced by the anaerobic digestion of organic matter consists of 55 to 70 percent methane (CH4), with carbon dioxide as the other major component. Methane is the combustible constituent that lets biogas burn as a clean, smokeless fuel. Hydrogen, carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulphide occur only in minor quantities. Hence methane is its main constituent.
