Explanation

Platinum is a noble metal with exceptional resistance to oxidation and does not react directly with oxygen even on strong heating. Titanium burns in oxygen, iron oxidises readily (rusting and burning to form oxides), and zinc burns in oxygen to form zinc oxide. Hence platinum is the metal that does not react with oxygen directly.
