Explanation

Platelets (thrombocytes) aggregate at the site of a vessel injury and initiate the clotting cascade — clotting of blood is their major function. Oxygen transport is performed by red blood cells (haemoglobin), while immunity and phagocytosis are the work of white blood cells.
