Explanation

Mahapajapati Gotami, the Buddha's maternal aunt and stepmother, raised him after his mother Maya died a week after his birth — she is regarded as his foster mother (and later the first Buddhist nun). Maya was his birth mother; Purna and Gajalakshmi are distractors. Hence Mahapajapati Gotami.
