Give Answer: (a) Only I (b) Only II (c) Both I and II (d) Neither I nor II
Premises: All metals are grey in colour. Some metals are heavy.
Conclusions:
- IAll heavy metals are grey in colour.
- IIAll light metals are not grey in colour.
general-mental-abilitysyllogisms-deduction
- AOnly I
- BOnly II
- CBoth I and II
- DNeither I nor II
Explanation
From 'All metals are grey' and 'Some metals are heavy', it follows that the heavy metals, being metals, are all grey, so conclusion I follows. The term 'light metals' never appears in the premises, so nothing can be concluded about them and conclusion II does not follow. Hence only conclusion I follows.
